I have a big dilemna!!! Every year I think, and think, and think.... what shall I be for Halloween this year? I am a procrastinator, put things off until it's almost too late. Last year, my costume arrived in my mailbox on the day of Halloween, that was really cutting it close. I have small grandchildren, so I want to be a character that they would like - not be scared of. Unfortunately, most costumes come in the size "standard".... which means it fits any thin person, those of us that do not fit in this category must venture into a smaller selection of costumes. In the past I have been a pumpkin, a witch - well, you get the idea the typical things you see at Halloween. My most popular costume I think was the year I dressed up as the teapot from Beauty and the Beast... very bulky costume, and since donated to the high school theater department. So.... suggestions?
Currently me
Well, now it's the end of September and things are cooling off here in Texas - thanks goodness! I have started doing caricatures at various girl scout events and would like to find other events, parties, etc. to participate in. I am currently working on a color pastel portrait of my grandson Luke - who is about to turn 2 yrs. old. He is a doll and I love the thought of leaving my work for my grandchildren to remember me by. I have three grandchildren and am expecting a fourth in March! Wow! I never would have imagined have four grandchildren at this age, but I love it. My husband is a lieutenant for the Grand Prairie fire department and also a real estate agent here in Decatur for Parker Properties. I have been a stay at home mom for so many years, and now my nest is empty... as a mother, you spend so many years focusing on your children and then they are gone and you realize you need a new focus. I would love to extend my art, especially the caricatures at public events, but wouldn't mind a part time job if I could find one that suited me. Life is good... just looking for a new purpose....

Getting started again..
I've been neglecting this for a while and thought I needed to get back into posting more recent art/work of mine. I have done several more portraits and caricatures, but also have now been busy making digital scrapbooking kits. I like to have my portrait items made at artscow.com and have been putting my kits in contests they offer. I am hoping if I give out freebies, that people will be nice enough to give me votes in the contest, besides having the opportunity to show off my work.
